Covid Power Pose

Hi there,

How has your life changed in the last month?  Are you working from home?  Are you self-isolating?  Are you spending all your time with family members when you are used to have separate lives outside the home?  Would you like to face Covid 19 with a Power Pose?

For me personally, I’ve started teaching Feldenkrais sessions online and I’m now doing my other part time job remotely, from a desk in the sitting room.  My husband is on furlough and enjoying time to spend on gardening and DIY.  Our adult daughter is a junior doctor, on the Covid wards at a large NHS hospital 100 miles away.  Our adult son is studying 200 miles away and spent last week self-isolating with potential Covid symptoms (thankfully now out of quarantine without any further effects).

We’re finding new solutions at Easter to problems that didn’t exist at Christmas.  Zoom has been a regular tool for a few years to hold virtual meetings with Feldenkrais colleagues around the world.  Now I’ve started using it to teach Feldenkrais sessions to regular and new people, as we can’t be in the same room at present.  Our aunt’s funeral was 300 miles away a fortnight ago.  Instead of travelling there, staying overnight and spending some time with our extended family, my brother, sister and I attended via a WhatsApp call with the resourceful funeral director.  We’ve become members of community self-help groups and are actively supporting small local food producers.

And the Power Pose?  The Feldenkrais Method is all about movement rather than positions and poses; this picture of our daughter in full Personal Protective Equipment says it all though.

Do let me know how your life is changed in Covid days, even if you are reading this after the pandemic is in the past.
